If you’re looking for something to keep your kids engaged this summer without it feeling like more school, take a look at Project Think at the Claremont Colleges.
This long-running local program (43 years!) is open to TK–8th grade and focuses on hands-on learning across science, art, tech, and more. Kids stay active, curious, and honestly… not bored.
What Kids Do Each Day
Mornings (8:30 am – 12:00 pm) are the core program:
- Younger kids rotate through hands-on learning centers plus music, art, and coding
- Older kids move through classes like science, drama, creative writing, and makerspace
It’s structured, but not rigid, which works well for a lot of kids.
Want a Longer Day?
Optional afternoon classes (12:00 pm – 3:00 pm) let kids dive deeper into one interest:
- Swimming
- Visual & performing arts
- Drama
- Spanish
- Coding and robotics
Extended care is also available from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm for families who need it.
Why Parents Like It
There’s a nice mix here, academics, creativity, and fun extras like weekly assemblies, guest speakers, and themed activities tied to this year’s “Jungle Journey Around the World.”
Plus, it’s all held on the Claremont Colleges campus (Pitzer), which kids always think is pretty cool.
Session Dates
- June 15 – July 2
- July 6 – July 24
You can sign up for one or both sessions.
