The City of Claremont is inviting students in grades K–6 to help choose the official theme for the 76th Annual 4th of July Celebration, and the winning idea comes with some pretty exciting perks.

This annual 4th of July Celebration Theme Contest gives kids the chance to put their creativity front and center. The winning theme will be used throughout Claremont’s Independence Day festivities, and the student behind it will be right in the middle of the action on July 4.

What Does the Winner Get?

The student whose theme is selected will receive:

  • Firework show tickets
  • A certificate recognizing their winning entry
  • A special place in the 4th of July parade
  • The honor of leading the flag salute at the Flag Raising Ceremony

Not bad for a few well-chosen words.

Theme Guidelines (Keep It Short and Sweet)

To enter, students should submit a theme that:

  • Is five words or less
  • Uses no more than 36 characters
  • Connects to Independence Day
  • Is created by a student in grades K–6
  • Comes from a student who lives in Claremont or attends a Claremont school

The winning theme will be selected by the Independence Day Committee. If there are duplicate winning entries, a random drawing will decide the final winner.

A Fun Family Brainstorm Opportunity

This is a great excuse to sit down as a family and talk about what Independence Day means, whether that’s community, freedom, traditions, or celebrating Claremont itself. Kids get to be creative, and parents get a front-row seat to some pretty thoughtful ideas.

If you have a K–6 student who loves words, art, or being part of community events, this is one contest worth checking out. Submissions are due soon, so now’s the time to start brainstorming.

Happy creating, Claremont!
